The Professional Services Database Engineer provides the highest quality database professional services and expertise to our customers and for our internal database systems. Services include but are not limited to bulk data extraction from 3rd party product systems, bulk migration of data into ECM systems sold and implemented, outsourced database administrative tasks, database reporting, disaster recovery planning, and performance assessments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Customer Facing
    • Provide consultative services and training to customers on topics related to scripting, custom reports, migrations, HA/DR design, maintenance, and performance.
    • Conduct and document business discovery with customer stakeholders to determine functional and technical requirements for the implementation of their ECM conversion solution.
    • Analyze 3rd party ECM databases for the purpose of documenting and identifying key metadata elements and potential discrepancies required to meet stakeholders' requirements.
    • Perform discovery, design, functional specification creation, and coding/implementation of custom management reports utilizing an expert level proficiency in OnBase Report Services.
    • Implement Sybase & Oracle to Microsoft SQL Server Platform Migrations of the OnBase database
    • Execute detailed OnBase System Assessments and create professional documentation with recommendations aligning with best practices.
    • Utilizing custom scripting and native OnBase functionality, execute OnBase to OnBase solution merge operations to consolidate multiple OnBase solutions to maximize existing customer investment in OnBase.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Internal
    • Ensure availability and performance of SQL Server databases used by the DataBank Service Bureaus.
    • Work with the Database Services team to ensure that the associated hardware resources are optimally allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
    • Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
    • Assist Technical Support personnel with troubleshooting and resolving database related support issues
    • Create and present instructional courses and material for employees at internal training opportunities and customers at conferences and other events.
Qualifications and Requirements Desired:
  • Excellent written, listening, and communication skills including interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Strong software and information technology knowledge base
  • Strong analysis and judgment skills
  • Strong telephone presence and consulting skills
  • Ability to work in team environment as well as independently
Education, Training, and Experience Desired:
  • 4 year bachelor’s degree or experience in database administration and reporting
  • TSQL or equivalent knowledge
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and\or Oracle
  • OnBase system knowledge preferred (Installer and Workflow certification a plus)
  • SSRS & SSIS knowledge a plus
  • Up to 35% travel is required for this position
